Typical german dishes

TYPICAL GERMAN DISHES AND GASTRONOMY

When people think of German, some of the first things that come to mind are obviously meals and drinks, so in this blog I will talk about some of those that I have seen  and giving my opinion about them..

✩Plates

Weißwurst or white sausage
Bockwurst
Regensburger
SAUSAGES OR WURST

A classical german dish are the iconic sausages or wurst. Although it is common to take at dinner, some people also have them for breakfast.

After trying a couple of them, I can say that the Weisswurst or white sausage is my favourite.

With it, you can try a type of mustard.

SCHNITZEL

One of my favourites, a piece of meat cooked with bread and served to make an easy but delicious meal!

SPAETZLE
With fried onion on top

A type of "noddle", typical in the south regions of Germany. It can be served with meat or fried onions as toppings.

At first I didn't trust this dish so much, since susually I'm not a big fan of onion, but to my surprise I ended up well liking it!

✩Snacks and dessert

Pretzels
PRETZEL
I am well aware of how popular and iconic pretzels are of Germany, and although they are good, they aren't completely how I expected.

Mini pretzels
However, there are mini pretzels and pretzel sticks served as snacks that quickly became my weaknes.. Really recommend trying!

KRAPFEN
Simple delicious dough balls filled with jelly inside, similar to donuts but I love the fruity flavours of the jelly inside, heavily recommend if you have a sweet tooth!

KÄSEKUCHEN

It may be because I love  cheesecake, but I just can't resist recommending this cake, slightly different to the typical spanish but definitely worth it!

✩Drinks

BEER

And even if I can't try it yet, to anyone coming to Germany above 16, should definitely try the classical german beer!
