Carnival and visiting Munich

CARNIVAL IN MUNICH

We had a week off school since it was holiday in Bavaria, so we decided to organize a trip to Munich and spend the day there. We went in a group with other students that came from Spain and our respective German "siblings".

We met up in the morning and took the train to get to Munich, it was about a 45 minute ride until reaching the main station there.

✩Carnival

It happend to also be carnival the day we went, so the streets were quite crowded with people in costumes, music, concerts and other spectacles.. Still, we mostly just walked around the central part of the city, we saw the city hall and lots of beautifull buildings, that was one of my favorite parts, everywhere I looked there seemed to be really impressive architecture!!.

The new city hall is in Marienplatz, it is well known because of the "Glockenspiel" or carillon. In certain hours of the day, the bells ring and figures make a kind of show, spinning around the tall tower. Sadly, I didn't get to see it but it's definitely interesting.

✩Activities and sightseeing

Most of the shops and restaurants were closed due to the holidays so we walked around the main streets and entered whatever shops were open.. I must say the prices here seem to be quite more expensive than in Spain..

But well, after a while the group split up and I ate with Sarah, my German "sibling" in a Thai restaurant, then we met up with two of Sarah's friends, but since it was getting pretty cold, we left after a bit, taking the train back home.
